About Noah

Hello! My name’s Noah. Its probably easiest to call myself a writer, but I dabble in all sorts of creative outlets. The written word is my bread and butter, with hundreds of articles on the web and hundreds of books in print with my name on them.

BookLife Publishing

I began working at BookLife Publishing at the start of 2023, joining the team as a Junior Author & Editor. I have moved up the ladder twice since then, now simply known as an Editor. My place in the BookLife editorial team sees me working on all sorts of books, fiction and non-fiction, in all sorts of formats. I’m involved from the very beginnings of idea generation, all the way to signing off the completed product ready for print or client delivery.

So yeah, I can do a lot of stuff with books.

Here are a few highlights from my work at BookLife.

McAllister Academy

Graphic Readers

The biggest writing project I have done (so far). Six book series, all 15,000 words, all done within a calendar year.

As a big football fan (and the lone sports enjoyer in the editorial team), I happily took this on. A series like this was requested from a client. So, I conceived the idea, wrote up pitches that I created with my publishing team, and then wrote them all. It involved many hours of writing, amending and communicating with clients. It also involved tackling themes I’d never really written about before, such as neurodivergence and divorce.

It kicked my ass but I am very proud of how McAllister Academy came out. Big shout-out to Becca and Beth for helping me hammer these plots into shape, to Amy for putting them together and to Dan for making these cool covers.

Bizarre Behaviour

The idea behind the Rapid Reader range is appealing to readers with high interest ages, but lower reading abilities. This range is one that I really took point on. It had just started when I joined BookLife, and then I took the ball and ran with it.

Being a history graduate, this series let me flex my degree a little bit. The content of this series was based on an existing series, but I retooled it into being more accessible, adding some more personality to it, and making it a bit more exciting all round.

I’m particularly proud of this series as it is an award winner! Bizarre Behaviour won Best Series at the Renaissance Learning 10th Annual Quiz Writers’ Choice Awards, beating out some real heavy hitters in the children’s books biz. They always say its an honour to be nominated beside some great people. I can’t lie its even sweeter to beat them. You can read more about that here. Shoutout to Jasmine for her excellent design skills on this one.

I’ve been a comic book fan forever, so being able to write my own graphic novels has been a blast. I’ve become the go-to guy for these as well in the team, with my expertise in the area, as well as a proven skill at making them.

Writing them is a blast, and seeing the illustrators bring them all to life is the best bit. Shoutout to Rose, T and Alex for their great work on the ones pictured to the left, and all the other illustrators I’ve worked with.

Monthly Puroresu

Professional wrestling is my biggest love. Japanese professional wrestling is a niche-within-a-niche that is very close to my heart. The first article I ever wrote that got published was about Japanese pro wrestling (shoutout Kefin and Jo at How2Wrestling for giving me my start).

Monthly Puroresu was a publication that I greatly admired as a western fan trying to accessing the world of puroresu as best I could. I had covered pro wrestling news for TheSportster in the past, and I had been itching to write more about my favourite pastime. So, I jumped at the chance to join MP.

As part of the team, I’ve been able to cover New Japan Pro Wrestling, STARDOM, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling and more.

A big shoutout to Thom, Lewis, Pep and the whole team over there. You can find Monthly Puroresu by clicking this link here that is highlighted.

DUB SOLDIER

While Monthly Puroresu lets me put my reporter hat on, I started a Substack to have a little more freedom and basically talk about whatever I like in the wrestling world, which is mostly things in the orbit of All Elite Wrestling.

I’ve tried blogs in the past and always got a bit burnt out by them. This time, I’m keeping things chill, formatting light and no set schedule.

Video Editing

Some more bits to do with my love of pro wrestling - video edits.

Fancams, edits and music videos have been a staple of wrestling fandom since the internet took over. A couple years ago, I got TikTok and decided to have a go at making some videos. I made quite a few on TikTok, but more recently I’m uploading straight to YouTube, just because wrestling clips don’t always fit so nicely in a vertical frame.

My editing skills are fairly simple, and I’m just using CapCut, but its a skill I definitely want to develop.

Here are a few videos that I consider among my best work (CW: It gets bloody).
